The Prince Among the Paupers - 4 October 2008
Mr Character, Mr I Love Myself, Mr Supercilious, Mr Imperious, Mr Toff, Mr U-turn, Mr Blair
clone, Mr Man with the Plan, Mr Old Boys' Network, Mr Slick is so smooth and slimy, he leaves
an oil trail like a slug. It’s the Tory Conference. It’s your favourite candidate. It’s Mr Cameron
Chameleon.
Like most politicians, our Dave is a consummate liar, a PR hologram whose genealogy allows
him to walk as if he has a royal scepter up his own arse. “Leadership, character, judgement –
that’s what the country needs at a time like this.” What the country needs at a time like this is
someone with leadership, character, judgement. Not you Dave. Dave’s deception regarding his
plans are leaching out and it is a matter of time before The Emperor’s New Clothes reveals his
Saville Row suits.
Dave’s ‘I am posh/rich/privileged/smart/young/handsome and the next prime minister you’re not’
position seduces the masses and the press. While everyone is busy beating Brown into a coma
(or is that his natural state?) with their rolled up editorial pages, Cameron is cheered at every
duplicity. “But he’s an Etonian!” As is George Osborne, Shadow Chancellor: the heir and the
spare…the untouchables…the kings of the universe. Very attractive.
One thing he doesn’t have to worry about are the details of his Conservative 'plan'; he simply
changes the policies as if it were a British weather pattern: warm…cold…sunny…rainy…windy
all in one day. He is a flip-flop master. His ‘greatest speech ever’ delivered to the deluded was
ironically upstaged by the $700-850 billion US pay out and then by the sacking of Metropolitan
Police Commissioner, Sir Ian Blair, by CC’s new nemesis, fellow Tory Mayor of London, Bonkers
Boris, followed by Brown’s coup – bringing back from the hinterlands his nemesis, EU Trade
Commissioner Peter Mandelson – The Prince of Darkness.
Ha, ha. We are amused…until we realise that he will become the next PM and he will continue to
do everything he can to aid the rich in maintaining their status and financial positions. “But they
are my friends…and they come to dinner parties…and they give millions to the party.” The Tory
party that is.
